Dear Comfort Seeker: Only God-Sized Comfort Will Do
I am from a long line of top-notch cozy-creators. I learned from my mom (who learned from her mom) the power of a creamy soup on the stove, chocolate chip cookies in the oven, and a fleece blanket on the lap. Something about the warm and perfectly well-worn invites us to come in and take off our shoes.
Pitfalls in Preaching: A Letter on Application
Are we more concerned about ‘our’ sermon than ‘God’s’ people and God’s plan for them?

Jesus and the Cleansing of a Leper According to the Law of Moses
A quick search showed four places in the New Testament where Jesus healed one or more lepers. Matthew 8:4; Mark 1:44; Luke 5:14; Luke 17:14 In each case Jesus told the leper to show himself to the priest and to follow the law of Moses for the cleansing of his leprosy. Let’s see what’s involved

A Sober-Minded Approach to Alcohol
Alcohol is one of God’s most potent gifts. He created it to gladden the heart (Psalm 104:15), to brighten life (Ecclesiastes 10:19), and to heighten celebration on the happiest occasions (John 2:1–11). Perhaps most telling, he designed this substance as an edible metaphor for the blood of Jesus, one that can help us taste the thrilling love of God. As seventeenth-century Anglican priest George Herbert reflected in his poem “The Agonie,” Communion is “that liquor sweet and most divine, which my God feels as blood, but I as wine.”

Does anyone else remember when we served out of faithfulness rather than for a paycheck?
Bible for a Toddler with No Images of Christ
My mother wants to buy a Bible for my 2.5 year old for Christmas and knows/is respectful of our stance on images of Christ. She's recently started to go to a PCA church with my sister's family and their kids, but she comes from Catholic upbringing and transitioned to loose evangelicalism. She thinks the OPC is worlds apart - bonus, therefore, if you can give me a recommendation from a PCA member
How Did Moses Get The Early Genesis Accounts?
How do you think Moses received the accounts of everything that happened in the early chapters of Genesis? If he authored the book, do we just have to say he received direct revelation from God? I’m sure there was oral tradition that was passed on, but secular critics of the Bible I’m sure

Loving God With All Your Heart
Recorded in the Gospel of Matthew, we have these words of Jesus who reiterated the greatest commandment: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your mind” (22:37). It is not unusual for a person to struggle with loving God. Because of the Fall,

Charlotte Geddie's Titus 2 Life
We continue the remarkable story of Charlotte Geddie, whose witness to the gospel consisted in her brave, self-denying ministry as a wife, mother, and helpmeet to her missionary husband John. This week we pick up the story as the Geddies, recently bereft of two of their children, continue making plans to minister in the New Hebrides. Featured resource: Joan Kingswood, ‘From Island to Island: The Witness of Charlotte Geddie (2)’ Banner of Truth Magazine, Issue 757 (October 2026).

Christ Gives Sleep to His Beloved
Wise men know you can sleep too much. In fact, that memorable proverb appears twice in God’s inspired book: A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man. (Proverbs 6:10–11 and 24:33–34) For all of history, drunkards and gluttons have slept their way into rags. The lazy have chosen extra slumber over productive labor. Some still fall prey. But most of us now wrestle with different temptations. We have electric lights.
