Jesus Frees You from the Comparison Trap
I should’ve seen it coming. I opened my computer to pull up the dinner recipe I was following, oblivious to the danger ahead. As I scrolled down to find the instructions, my eyes took in photos of a beautiful kitchen, a beautiful cook, and beautiful cuisine. With quick steps, my mind traveled a familiar trail: Her home is more beautiful than mine. She’s younger than me, prettier than me, and cooks better than me. She is better than me.
An insightful quote from Pope Francis on Sadness
"We receive so much from the Lord for our enjoyment, that sadness can be a sign of ingratitude. We can get so caught up in ourselves that we are unable to recognize God's gifts."(Pope Francis, Gaudete et Excultate 126) I thought this would be a helpful quote for those of us more prone to sadness and melancholy
Best Printed Greek Old Testament
Good morning, I’m currently taking Greek, and I’ve enjoyed learning the language so far. Thinking to the future, I’d like to add a Greek OT to my future book list, but I need some guidance on which one is most recommended. I’ve not seen much more than the Rahlfs-Hanhart Septuaginta online as
The Great Shema, “Hear, Israel!”
The Jewish confession of faith begins, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, is one Lord” (Deut. 6:4). The complete Shema is founded in passages in the Old Testament. Numbers 15:37–41: Stresses the unity of God, loving, and obeying Him. Deuteronomy 6:4–9: Stresses the blessing or punishment related to obedience. Deuteronomy 11:13–31: Stresses the proper
Why Socialism Needs an Enemy
Socialism must continually locate the problem somewhere outside man’s sinful heart. As a result, every failure requires a new explanation, another crisis, and eventually another enemy.
Looking for resources to deal with Dan Mcllellan
Hello saints, I have a friend in work who is interested in the Bible, but unfortunately is a watcher of Dan Mcllellan. When I was a Roman Catholic, theories of Dan Mcllellan, Bart Erhman and others were taking as fact, we had a priest-lecturer in seminary who believed Jesus was not portrayed
Life on the Seas of Death
Secular man may learn how to survive, but he does not know how to live. Because he knows not why he lives. In his sin, he gropes in the dark for meaning. He knows he can wreck any day now. He knows he will eventually hit the bottom. A forced sailor, he is born into this wild and raging sea of life he does not understand. He shudders to sink. He strives to stay aloft as long as possible. Yet he is moving, dragged toward somewhere — but where?

Christian, a Better Day is Coming
This week’s Friday Extra is a reading, by William Boekestein, of the entry for Psalm 13 in the new Banner title he has co-authored with Rob Ventura, God is Our Refuge and Strength: 150 Devotionals Through the Psalms. The book releases in North America on 13 October, and will be available in the UK and World store from early December.
Christian Music
Hey Everyone, I’m always looking for new Christian songs. The problem is as both a musician and someone with a love of theology I feel like it is hard to find a song with both good lyrics and good music. Thought I’d throw this out on the board curious if you had any suggestions on some songs or bands to check out.
Thomas Watson
I must confess I have never read Thomas Watson. But with all the excitement over RHB’s release of his complete works, I figure I ought to read something by him. What is something short by him, 20-50 pages (including excerpts from longer works), that I should read to get a taste of his style and where I should prioritize him compared to Owen, Warfield, Edwards, and others who I’m considering diving into more deeply? Thanks.
Who in the Seminary EDU space should I contact about ReformedWiki.org?
Back in August 2023, I began an effort to build a Wikipedia-like site (uses the same software MediaWiki) to build a community-edited wiki but for Reformed Christianity known as ReformedWiki.org There is a lot of possibilities for what can be done with this, and I have begun getting a lot more
πνευματικαῖς in Eph. 5:19, Col. 3:16
EPers only, please. Why is the Greek word πνευματικαῖς (spiritual) added to the words "psalms, hymns, and songs", which appear often in the superscriptions of the psalter (all of them appearing together in the superscriptions to 2 psalms)? What is Paul adding to the argument by supplying this adjective? I have heard a non-EP explanation and I would now like to know what those who practice Exclusive Psalmody say. Thanks in advance!

Abiding in Jesus
(Illustration by Chuck Easterling) “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me” (John 15:4). Since the life of permanent and perfect abiding in Jesus ordinarily comes by degrees, or step by step, what
Our Bonds for Him Easy to Us
In searching references from reading in Lamentations 1 this morning, found this encouraging word from Matthew Henry out of his commentary on John 18: Christ’s being bound was very significant; in this as in other things there was a mystery. [1.] Before they bound him, he had bound himself by
Westminster Wednesdays: The Announcement

In a Christian world saturated with discipleship resources, the Westminster Shorter Catechism has stood the test of time as an edifying summary of Christian truth, well adapted to use in churches and in the Christian home.
