    Devotion for October 9, 2026

Our Advocate Hebrews 2:14–18 That he might become a merciful and faithful high priest. The Trinity Titus 3:4–7 God our Savior . . . saved us . . . by . . . the Holy Spirit . . . through Jesus Christ our Savior. Titus 3:4–6 It is common among Christians to divide the work of God among the three persons, applying the work of creation to the Father, the work of redemption to the Son, and the work of sanctification to the Holy Spirit. A more correct way of speaking is to say that each member of the Trinity cooperates in each work. One example is the work of creation.

The Christian’s “Death Benefits” 2 Timothy 4:6–18 Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness. 2 Timothy 4:8 The first great benefit of death for Christians is that death brings a permanent freedom from evil. The Christian who has tasted the delight of God’s righteousness longs for a purity that he will never have on earth. He longs to be free of sin, pain, care, and anxiety. And he knows that death brings freedom. The second great benefit of death to believers is that they will be like Jesus.
